Schedules

A film schedule is very important to my overall experience on a film set. The crew and talent  all follow the schedule set for the day. The schedule tells me when I need to be on set and my department.

  • Because I am on crafty I am one of the first departments to report on set. To set up the food.
  • The schedule is meant for a full day and there’s are no “shifts”
  • The schedule also provides the location of the nearest hospital
  • Also the weather and sunrise and sunset for the day
  • Abbreviations such as “OC” means “on call” and that individual will only be on set if called to come.

There are a lot of work to be done in the marketing side in Social Media. I was assigned to be on the social media team to promote Megamind Media lasted film, All In. My duties included-

Locations

A location for a film is very important if you don't have a location you have nowhere to shoot! Here are some basic tips and known facts about finding a location for filming!

  1. Locations are one of the most important aspects of filming but it usually comes later in the production process. Writers and Directors have a vision when they write or read a script on the location they would like to shoot. This takes time to map out and all these creative ideas are given to the location director to find a place where a directors vision can become reality!

     2. Location are always subject to change! The film industry is a forever changing medium it requires some light on their feet and flexible to change. Locations are one of the many things that are forever changing on a film set. Due to budget, availability, and deadlines a location can change even on the day before filming!

     3. Directors and DP's  always scout the location- Angles, space, blocking all this goes into picking the right location. To see if the space can work to the director's and DP's vision and technical means. Overall to see if the location fits with the overall vision for the film.

Set Rules

Being on set especially during COVID has taught me new set lingo and the lengths film crews have to go through to be on set during this pandemic.

  • COVID-19 Testing- Everyone on set had to take a COVID test before coming on set within a certain time period. Also, everyday everyone had to keep their mask on at all times, social distance, and have a temperature check twice during a set day.

  • Quiet all around- This means that the crew and talent are ready to shoot and the entire set must stay quiet until the take is over, in order for the team to get the best take.

  • Talent, Prop, etc Flying!- When crew is talking on their radio to each other quick lingo is necessary to keep the entire shoot smooth and quick. So when a crew member says something or someone is flying they mean that its on the way to their destination.

Script Review

     Script Reviews

One of the things I am most thankful for during this internship is the chance to be able to review scripts. I am a filmmaker but a writer at heart and reading others writers scripts has taught me a lot about my own writing and what I need to improve. Being with MegaMind Media has taught me about how scripts are picked up and what a studio looks for overall. Each studio is different and drawn to different genres, MegaMind Media is very interested in the soap opera drama with the dramatic storylines. What I learned is that there is an audience for every genre and films to meet that need. These script review are truly helping my writing and I am very grateful.
